EUROGUSS 2022 on track

Preparations are in full swing for EUROGUSS 2022, to be held at the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg (Germany) from 18th to 20th January 2022.

EUROGUSS is the central meeting place in Europe for the diecasting industry, providing stimuli for the entire sector, and is an important platform for sharing professional knowledge and innovations. In addition, the Die Casting Industry Forum offers businesses in the sector quick tips and assistance in finding their way out of the current crisis. NürnbergMesse, organiser of EUROGUSS 2022, is once again planning to take up four halls for the event and provide an extensive supporting programme. A series of competitions, special exhibition areas and pavilions will all serve to illustrate the variety and excellence of the diecasting sector. Standing out as clear focal points for 2022 are topics like additive manufacturing, the influence of micromobility as a trend, and once again the impacts of e-mobility on the diecasting sector. Motorised vehicles in micro format, like e-bikes, pedelecs and scooters, are enjoying a boom, thanks in part to a change in leisure activities in the post-coronavirus age. There has also been a noticeable increase in new electric car registrations recently.

Success strategies and forward-looking plans on the agenda

EUROGUSS 2022 is clearly an event not to be missed in this sector, and one that appeals to all diecasting foundries, their suppliers, and of course all buyers of die cast components,” said Christopher Boss, director and international product manager of EUROGUSS at NürnbergMesse. “The next edition of the fair in January 2022 comes at a particularly fascinating time, when it will be possible to look back and learn from the crisis and, more importantly, look forward together to the future. Success strategies and forward-looking plans will be important topics for EUROGUSS 2022, and that also goes for the format of EUROGUSS itself, as we are looking closely at what additional online services will enhance and meaningfully complement the in-person event. The SPOTLIGHTMETAL online portal that we launched in 2018 gives us a very good starting point.”

At the beginning of 2020, before the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, EUROGUSS 2020 was still able to take place as usual. This event, the European summit meeting of the diecasting sector, brought 758 exhibitors and around 15,000 trade visitors to the four exhibition halls in January. More than half of the exhibitors came from abroad, with the majority of the international participants in EUROGUSS attending from other parts of Europe as per usual.

Forum offers “impetus from the crisis”

To keep the conversation going during these turbulent times in particular, and to support the diecasting sector as it finds its way toward economic recovery and a new direction, the first Die Casting Industry Forum took place, on 4th and 5th November 2020. This top-level event for decision-makers was limited to about 100 participants, and was organised under the aegis of the SPOTLIGHTMETAL online platform, a joint venture between NürnbergMesse and Vogel Communications Group.

Association of German Die Casting Foundries (VDD) and NürnbergMesse extend contract

The Association of German Die Casting Foundries (VDD) has committed to at least another four years as the sponsoring institution of the EUROGUSS trade fair. The VDD will also continue to organise the German Die Casting Congress held every two years parallel to EUROGUSS. This has now been reaffirmed by the VDD within the framework of a contract renewal with NürnbergMesse. The industry association and trade fair company are therefore set to continue their successful collaboration into the future.

“We are absolutely delighted to be able to continue to write the EUROGUSS success story into the future alongside the VDD,” says Rolf Keller from the NürnbergMesse management board. “Diecasting is a key sector for German industry, and parts and components die cast from aluminium, magnesium or zinc will continue to grow in importance in the future. At EUROGUSS and the German Die Casting Congress, foundries address the challenges of the future.”

“Every two years, EUROGUSS is an unmissable event for foundries and their suppliers in Germany and the rest of Europe,” adds Hartmut Fischer, president of the VDD and general manager of Stihl Magnesium Die-Casting. “The diecasting sector needs this kind of platform for dialogue and knowledge sharing more than ever. It’s where we come together to discuss new issues and challenges, such as carbon neutral production or the shift to electric drive systems for cars, and to explore ideas and potential solutions. We therefore had no hesitation in extending our collaboration as the sponsoring institution of EUROGUSS and organiser of the parallel German Die Casting Congress. And in fact, we will also be partnering with EUROGUSS in future to present the European Die Casting Award at the trade fair.”

For the first time, VDD and EUROGUSS will also be holding the European Die Casting Competition and awards ceremony at the trade fair in 2022. www.euroguss.de
