Chinese foundry goes green

A new foundry being built in China is to include the latest environmental and ‘green’ technology including a thermal reclamation plant for alkaline phenolic - believed to be the first installation of this process in the country.

The new state-of-the-art Tycon Alloys foundry is born out of the need to move from its existing site in Shenzhen having outgrown the facility following continued expansion and investment. The leading producer of high grade steel valves and pumps is to relocate some 200km from the current location.
Tycon was one of Omega Foundry Machinery Ltd’s first customers in China when it installed its first mixer in 1997 and has selected Omega to supply the equipment for the new facility.
Further investment will include: semi-automatic fast loop moulding, automated pouring and cooling lines, and a floor moulding area.
The foundry is expected to be in production by the end of the year.
