World Foundry Organization celebrates its centenary year

The World Foundry Organization (WFO) is celebrating its centenary year in 2026, marking one hundred years of advancing the global foundry industry and supporting innovation, collaboration and sustainability across the metal casting sector.

Founded in 1926, the WFO has played a pivotal role in uniting foundry associations, research institutions and industry leaders from around the world. Over the past century, the WFO has fostered international co-operation, promoted technical excellence and contributed significantly to the development of casting technologies that underpin modern infrastructure, transportation, energy and manufacturing.

The centenary celebrations will highlight a century of achievement while setting the stage for the future of the foundry industry. The World Foundry Congress in October in Istanbul (Turkey) will be the main event for this year’s celebrations and past and present WFO stakeholders will take part in it.

As the industry navigates rapid technological transformation and increasing environmental responsibility, the WFO reaffirms its commitment to knowledge exchange, research collaboration, education and global best practices. WFO general secretary, José Javier González, said: “The centenary serves not only as a moment of reflection but also as a renewed pledge to drive innovation and strengthen international partnerships for the next one hundred years.”

Industry stakeholders, member associations, academic institutions and partners worldwide are invited to participate in the centenary activities and contribute to shaping the future of the global foundry community.
